What is a Player Pool System?
It is a successful method for developing strong technically creative players in an age group. All players within the age group will train together at least twice a week with 2 or 3 coaches at each session. During these weekly training sessions the players are being evaluated to determine where/how they should be grouped during the training sessions and games.
Why is this better?
· Kids develop physically and technically at different rates. A player pool system allows for the flexibility needed to accommodate those varying rates among a group of players.
· Enhances player and team success.
· Exposes players to more than one coaching style, which increases the knowledge a player can attain over the year.
· Creates more playing opportunities for the families that want it.
· Provides the right environment for a coach to focus on player development.
· Creates natural coaching development for club.
How will it be organized? (Schedule, fees, colors)
· Coaches develop schedule and select rosters for each event. (3-4 tournaments per season + friendlies)
· Managers communicate with parents what the roster is for each event. (You will be notified at least 3 weeks before an out of town event)
· Fees are divided by the entire age group. Additional fees may be required for some players attending more expensive tournaments.
· The colors (blue, white, black) will still represent the level of the team at a tournament, but the roster of a team may change from event to event over the course of a year.
