Communication
The manager is the main source of information for all team related issues. Most information will be sent using email, but there are many tools you can use to help players and parents stay informed
- Team Website – Update your team website frequently. The manager can have a team webmaster or update the site themselves. Check other club team websites to get creative ideas for your website. Have a lot of pictures and other content to make it place the players and parents like to visit!
- Email – Send frequent emails to keep players and families informed. Parents rely on the emails you send to schedule their family activities, so the sooner you send information the better. Reminders are also helpful, as multi-child families try to juggle combined schedules.
- Team Calendars – Create a team calendar and keep it accessible on your team website. Update it often, and make sure you have all practice and game information on it. If you don’t want your team calendar to be accessible to the public, you can password protect it on your site.
- Phone or Text – Establish a method of rapid communication in case of last minute changes to games or practices. You can assign parents to call others (phone tree), use a call service (like callemall.com), or create a team Twitter account and have your families “follow” you on the site (they will then get your text message updates).
