TNFC uses a pool system to train this age group. The approach differs from the so-called “academy” style that some area clubs use where all teams are at “parity” the whole year. Our model, based on proven European systems, allows players to develop at an appropriate pace that is relative to their current skill level. It ensures that no player is left back due to slower development and also that no player is held back from accelerated development needs.
 
The players will all train at the same time with the pool coaches and are often divided during practice based on developmental needs, skill levels, and the material to be covered. They are then placed on rosters for games and tournaments based on the developmental needs of the players and the expected level of competition. This ensures that players are well positioned to be challenged and to succeed in practice and games. There will likely be movement of players between rosters to support this need. Every move that is made is done with the player development as the key driver.
